My First (and hopefully not last) Post

I’m unsure what to post on my first blog. I want to write something that people will want to read. I want to set the right tone. I people to come back and read me again and again. I want people who read my blog want to go out and change the world for the better. Okay, maybe the last one is asking a little too much. I just hope that I can bring a smile to someone’s day.

After spending the last hour deliberating subject to write about, I came up with a lot of nothing. So I will just tell you about a recent experience that made me laugh. I was using a bathroom in a local department store when I noticed a sign saying “Employees must wash hands before returning to work.” Not a big deal since almost all public bathrooms have those songs. But what struck me as funny was the location. It was on the paper towel dispenser.

If you don’t see what’s so funny about that, let me lead you through my thinking. The purpose of the sign is for it to be read by people who may not wash their hands. The people who use paper towel dispenser are the ones who have just washed their hands. They don’t need to read the sign because they have already obeyed the sign. The people who need to read the sign have just walked past the paper towel dispenser and out the door, not even knowing the sign was there. What a useless sign.

Okay, so maybe it’s not the most brilliant post, but stick with me. It will get better. Hopefully.
